is going into effect today. new york avenue where i am right now, eastbound and westbound, we are talking from the maryland line up to bladensburg road. so eastbound, the speed limit will be increased from 40 to 45 miles per hour. westbound, it will be increased from 35 to 40 miles per hour. then we go over to bladensburg road from mount olivet to 17th street and new york avenue, that is being increased from 25 to 30 miles per hour. north capital street from michigan avenue to hearwood road going up to 40 miles per hour. and canal road from chain bridge to fox haul road, 35 to 40 miles per hour. and again, mayor gray commending the director of the district department of transportation for taking a look at these. also, back in november, they made some increases to speed limits along benning road, which went up to 35 miles per hour and also on 295, they raised that to 50 miles per hour. one of the thins they are trying to do here is keep the speed limits consistent as a lot of the drivers have complained that the speed limit changes as you are coming down new york avenue from maryland into
